Instructional Centers and Social/Behavioral Component
Student Life has established two Instructional Centers and a Social/Behavioral Component.  Each offers one-on-one training by a certified teacher and paraprofessionals with opportunities for students to learn skills in appropriate and real-life settings.
Independent Living Center
The Independent Living Center offers instruction to students in the areas of Clothing, Food, Room Management as well as Personal/Hygiene Care.  Students participate in the Center daily and are taught various activities.  The Independent Living Center offers the student opportunities to learn more independent living skills as well as enabling them to practice already learned skills.
Learning Center
The Learning Center provides after school assistance to help strengthen student's academic and learning skills. The Center is equipped with technology adapted for use by learners with visual impairments. The Computer Lab, an integral part of the Center, offers supervised access to the Internet with parental internet permission forms.
Social/Behavioral Component
The Social/Behavioral Component provides the tools so students learn how to be socially accepted in the community.  Through individual conferences, group discussions, and role-play the students will become well equipped to handle various, social situations.

Student Life Chatter
Student Life publishes a newsletter, Chatter, which is written by staff and students.  Chatter is a communication tool, which disseminates events and activities to the public.

After School Visitor Policy
Visitors, including family members, former students and other interested citizens, are welcomed and encouraged to visit Student Life.  All visitors are asked to make appointments with the appropriate supervisor to avoid scheduling conflicts.  All visitors, from 3:20 pm to 8:00 pm - Monday through Thursday, are requested to go the visitor's station at the Crockett-Peeler Building Basement.  The station designee will enter the visitor's full name, destination on campus, date of visit, and the inclusive times of the visit.  Visitations, except for emergencies, are not allowed from 9:00 pm to 7:00 am.

Volunteer Program
Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and are defined as individuals or groups who will positively interact with our students.  Prospective volunteers, who apply and meet the necessary requirements, are contacted to discuss opportunities and abilities, which match student needs.  All volunteers, from 3:20 pm to 8:00 pm - Monday through Thursday, are requested to go the volunteer's station at the Crockett-Peeler Building Basement.  The station designee will enter names, destination on campus, date of visit, activity, and the inclusive times of the visit.
