Governor Morehead School welcomes its students, parents, staff, and community partners to the 2023-2024 school year. This summer, our leadership team and staff have been working diligently to prepare for another dynamic year of instruction, unique learning opportunities, and growth. We officially launched our strategic plan in January of 2022 which is a guiding path leading to transformation at our school. We invite students, parents, and community supporters alike to view it and become engaged in assisting our school transform and enhance how we serve visually impaired students of North Carolina.
Our continued focus on literacy and personalized learning opportunities for our students is paramount. As we continue to instruct students who would benefit from braille instruction, we strive to support and teach our students to use current technological advances that support their overall growth in academics, social-emotional skills, and orientation-mobility skills. One of our core objectives is to improve post-secondary outcomes for students with visual impairments so they are better prepared for success in the workforce and in higher institutions of learning.
We will continue to hold quarterly TOWN HALL meetings this academic year to engage our parents and community partners in our goal for better outcomes for our students. We are also looking forward to the completion of operational projects that will enhance how students are served in this coming year.
In the coming weeks, we will announce the schedule for those TOWN HALL meetings as well as the process of how to participate in these important opportunities.
